SUMMARY:

An experienced instructor and writer, Lisa has taught writing and language skills to adult learners in both corporate and academic environments, in online, classroom, and blended learning formats.  Her business writing background encompasses technical language skills, a flexible writing style, and the ability to edit a wide variety of materials for clarity, content, correctness, and ease of expression.  She has specialized experience in writing and editing Federal and state government proposals.  Lisa also has strong supervisory skills and extensive experience in document management and production, including managing the proposal development process.

  • Helped design the online syllabus for a senior level online creative writing course.
  • Taught one of the first two offerings of a newly developed online sentence skills class.

The Editing Department consisted of two senior editors, three editors, one editorial specialist, and a variable number of contractors.  The Document Design Department consisted of four document designers, two graphic designers, and one database specialist.  The departments worked together to edit course manuals and visuals, storyboards for online courses, text books, CD-ROMs, and presentations and to prepare them for production.

 

·         Lead a cross-functional team to redesign ESI course materials.

·         Managed daily operations, workload, special projects, and customer relations. 

·         Hired personnel, determined raises and bonuses, and conducted reviews.

·         Created formalized job descriptions.

·         Implemented work and time tracking systems, both manual and web-based.

·         Cross-trained all editors on all curricula.

·         Implemented the use of customer feedback forms.

·         Developed a new position (editorial specialist) to improve turnaround time on minor course revisions.

·         Rectified serious tardiness and work quality issues.

·         Organized the departments’ filing systems.

·         Created file naming conventions for noncoursework materials.

·         Created time and cost estimating guidelines for course development and business development staff to use in working with clients.

·         Participated in developing the division’s intranet site.

·         Edited high-visibility Federal and state government proposal development efforts, primarily for PeopleSoft Implementations and Y2K services.

·         Crafted and taught two language skills courses for the Arthur Andersen Executive Assistant Professional Development curriculum. 

·         Served as the PDC’s interim director, overseeing all PDC output and supervising an 11-person staff.

·         Wrote correspondence, brochures, and corporate capabilities documents.

·         Coordinated proposal development efforts for federal government clients, especially agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services, including The National Institutes of Health.

·         Coached new staff members and trained junior proofreading staff on technical language skills.
